Deborah Quinn-Munson's work is distinguished by its bold color, energetic line, and strong composition, which are primary to her as a painter to convey a powerful image filled with atmosphere and light. She is well-known for her mixed media paintings of watercolor and pastel and for her rich impasto oil paintings. The subjects of her work vary from landscapes, to views along the Connecticut shore, to still lifes. It is important to her to present images that are serene and inviting and offer a contrast to the hectic world in which we live. She has received many distinctions as an artist for her work, including Top Award for Excellence in Pastel in the Art of New England Exhibition, Lyme Art Association. She has also recently been chosen as a finalist in the Artists Magazine Annual Competition and twice in the Pastel Journal Competition. She is in many corporate collections and has been elected to membership in the Copley Society of Art, Pastel Society of America, Connecticut Pastel Society, New Haven Paint and Clay Club, and Cape Cod Art Association. Deborah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at University of New Hampshire and a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University. |
